1997-98

With this highlight tape, you can see that I was starting to think a little outside of the box—or maybe I was just crazy. With the help of hockey player Tyson Swartz, who had graduated the previous year, I put together the Batman sequence. After considerable planning, I rented the costume, the smoke machine, and bought ice time to film this. And Tyson was gracious enough to donate his time.

The Elks went to state and again lost to Bowling Green.

1996-97

This was my first attempt at a highlight tape, and it was before I used a computer and editing software. So all I had were two VCRs, a music cassette player, and a limited amount of patience. But I knew I wanted to do this and you always feel good when the players and parents see it for the first time at the banquet. I never dreamed our family would be involved in hockey and Ken’s story is truly amazing. He was surrounded with good players and many of them are still his friends today. Thanks to coaches Tim Evans, Andy Pokupek, and Chip Worrell for their encouragement and believing in him.

The team had a great run in the playoffs and lost to Bowling Green in the state semifinals.
